Hello Heller fans.

Wonderful World

Heller Theatre opens its 26th season this Thursday, September 27. "Wonderful World," a comedy by Richard Dresser, kicks off what promises to be a great year.

What happens when people start saying the things they would 'never' say about their families, their spouses and significant others? How fast can a little honesty shatter a perfect relationship? Or is it really, truly a "Wonderful World?"

Lisa R. Stefanic directs this sometimes biting, always hysterical look at the American family. Lisa, long a dynamic actress and director on various Tulsa stages, makes her first directing appearance at Heller. Call 746-5065 for reservations for Wonderful World, performing September 27-29 and October 4-6 at 8 pm with a Sunday matinee on September 30 at 2 pm.

Heller Work Day

On August 25, the Heller Council and a host of volunteers spent their Saturday giving our theatre a thorough sprucing up. Ron Friedberg oversaw the installation of some much-needed shelving, Sherry Zyskowski got out the paints and gave us some new colors in back room, and all props, curtains and etcetera got completely reorganized (amazing how much etcetera we have). Thanks to Sue and Brad Sinor, Michael Massy, Susan Apker, David Gray and a host of others who gave up a day off to give our theatre a face lift.

New employee

Our new colleague, Erin Thompson, has moved right in and is already making herself indispensable. Erin built and painted the Wonderful World set, is currently designing our next show Rocket Man, and is getting ready to direct Clark Youth Theatre's Christmas tradition, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." Adding Erin has lowered the average age of the Heller staff by about 10 years; we'll have to see if the rest of us can keep up.

Julies Stepping Out

By the way, you can see Ms. Thompson onstage the next two weekends down at the PAC in Theatre Tulsa's "The Lion in Winter." The director of that show is another woman who's done a little work with us from time to time. What was her name again? Oh yeah, Julie Tattershall directs an impressive cast in this brilliantly written classic. Don't miss it, 746-7111 or myticketoffice.com for tickets.
