Heller Theatre presents
"What In The World"
Nov. 14-16 & 21-23
& Nov. 17 @2pm.
2002
Heller Theatre is proud to present two short, original plays in What in the World: a world premiere evening, featuring the plays Motherland by Doug Dolcino and Horace and Daphne by Tim Neller.
Olympic egg-sitting, deposed princes, flesh-eating monsters, and a wee bit of cross-dressing—it must be more original drama from Heller Theatre. Doug Dolcino, author of Heller’s critical success Beast of Burden, is back with the short play Motherland, where history and tradition collide with new-world freedoms when two deposed princes from an undisclosed country are forced to live and work as bellboys in a foreign land. Something new from the playwright whose previous work prompted Michael Smith of the Tulsa World to write, “. . .without question the oddest, most audaciously edgy and alternative production. . .” Team that with the absurd dysfunctional family dynamic of Tim Neller’s Horace and Daphne, a short piece of fantasy about Horace and his choice between the woman and family he loves and the giant egg he has been nesting—and the grotesque thing of spurious intent gestating inside of it—and you have a full evening of compelling, original, off-kilter drama we like to call What in the World.
The evening is directed by Scott Heberling, with designs by Larry Latham and features the acting talents of Rich Bentz, John Cruncleton, Corey Douglas, David Gray, Mark Miller, Jesse Pate, and Laurie Phariss.
