One of our most revered and provocative dramatists, David Mamet conquers new territory in Boston Marriage. No gritty urban reality here, no male bonding, in fact no men at all. Instead, his trademark tart dialogue and impeccable plotting have been transported to a fashionable Victorian drawing room. Herein Anna and Claire, two bantering, scheming “women of fashion” undertake a grand battle of wits more than a little reminiscent of Oscar Wilde. Seductions are attempted, liaisons planned and thwarted, tremendous ruses are undertaken all in the name of love… or at least lust. Exceptionally clever and devastatingly funny, this piece demonstrates a new Mamet’s linguistic virtuosity. The cast includes Monica Barczak, Kristi Bush, and Kaycee Johnson. Devin Meadows directs.
