Arthur a young obscure painter is engaged to be married, to Lucille, a no nonsense Texas socialite. But Arthur has a few obstacles in his way, his psychiatrist, Dr. Block who has stolen his only sense of security, his father’s argyle socks. Arthur cannot make love with out said socks in the proximity. With the advent of Lucille and Arthur’s wedding night fast approaching it becomes all about the socks.
