Heller Theatre is proud to open its 2001-2002 season with Martin McDonagh's The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Sept. 20-22, 28-30 & Oct. 4-6, 2001.

The centerpiece to McDonagh's award winning Leenane trilogy, The Beauty Queen of Leenane recounts the lonely life of Maureen Folan, a plain and desperate woman living with her manipulative mother Mag. When Mag meddles with what is possibly Maureen's last chance at romance, their already stormy relationship swiftly rises to a harrowing height of conflict. A very Irish and very dark comedy of character and relationship.
